We know that the success of our company is directly linked to the sustainability of the world around us. We are therefore committed to responsible stewardship of the environment, to using fewer resources, and to generating less waste.

These commitments run through our operations, both behind the scenes and front of house, and extend to encouraging our employees to reduce energy use at home.

Through our CodeGreen initiatives we have introduced targets for reducing carbon emissions, conserving energy and looking to renewable energy sources, cutting water consumption, and recycling more of our waste.

We've come a long way and learned a great deal. We still have a long way to go.

Carbon Free Dining

All our UK restaurants are part of the Green Earth Appeal’s Food For Thought programme which offsets the carbon footprint of the meals produced in our kitchens.

We add an optional 99p to each bill which goes to Food For Thought to fund tree-planting and provide education and resources to create a sustainable lifestyle in some of the poorest communities on the planet.

To date we have planted almost 150,000 fruit trees in countries throughout the developing world, officially confirmed by the Green Earth Appeal.

As a partner of the United Nations Environment Programme, the Green Earth Appeal works closely with charities operating in rural communities in Africa and South America. It supplies trees, seeds and agroforestry training to empower these communities to restore tree cover to their lands, providing a food source, protecting the environment, and helping to preserve traditional livelihoods and cultures for generations.

Making a Difference

We work with a diverse range of charities as part of our pledge to make a positive difference in society.

Our main focus is on socially responsible gambling, so as well as promoting it in all our properties, we also support research into problem gambling and we help fund education and treatment programmes.

Some of the organisations we support are:

  • GamCare is the leading provider of information, advice, support, and free counselling for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling.
  • YGAM, the UK’s first accredited and quality assured gambling awareness education programme, is training teachers, youth workers, and peer mentors to educate young people about harmful gambling.
  • Deal Me Out aims to deliver the national education and gambling harms awareness programme for Wales.

Safer Gambling

At Metropolitan Gaming, we are committed to preventing underage gambling, to protecting young and vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling, and to increasing support for the treatment of gambling harm. We do this by creating a culture of Safer Gambling within our casinos.

Whilst the vast majority of players will never experience any gambling harm, playing safely is not confined to those who either have experienced gambling harms or are most at risk from gambling harms. At Metropolitan Gaming, we believe that gambling should be fun for all our customers.
